Seeking Comfort in the Uncomfortable

Kitchen Sofa

With the influence of design and form values from the designers of the 20th century I have explored the kitchen sofa as an anchor point in a home. The kitchen sofa is a furniture deeply rooted in Swedish culture and has been a central piece in homes as Sweden has developed from a poor country to one of the most prosperous in the world. By using a hands on design approach with full scale prototyping and paying close attention to form and the interplay of different parts, the sofa can get a spot in a modern kitchen without loosing its cultural value.

It is fully dismountable and can be stored away flat.
