Oak & Hide

A lounge chair in oak and leather, designed for durability and long-term restoration.

Oak & Hide is a design project focused on durability, material honesty and the potential for furniture to age with value rather than expire. Crafted from solid oak and vegetable-tanned leather, the chair is designed to withstand decades of use while allowing for future repair and renewal. The construction highlights visible joinery and an open structure that reveals how it's made. Every connection is considered, not only for strength, but also for accessibility, so that worn components can be replaced or restored without compromising the integrity of the whole. The design resists excess and trends. Its form is generous yet minimal, intended to feel grounded rather than decorative. Both materials, oak and leather are selected not just for their durability, but for how they change over time, developing patina, marks and richness with use. Rather than being replaced, Oak & Hide is meant to be kept, lived with and cared for. It encourages a shift in how we think about furniture - from disposable product to long-term companion  and reflects a broader interest in sustainable, circular design.
